Muffins for Mom 2016

Thank you to these moms for allowing me to be with their pride and joy this year!
Thank you to the dads for sending in the yummy muffins and orange juice.  It was so sweet seeing the kids serve their moms and everyone looked so nice.  We started off with Kid President's message to Moms every where.  Haven't seen it here it is.
I talked about my own mom and how she is the strongest woman I know.  What better way to show that than the P&G Thank you Mom, Rio Commercial
Each one of our friends had something to say about their mom.
We made portraits of our mom and one extra special surprise was our good-bye...
Happy Mother's Day to all the special moms that help us everyday in every way possible to be a better person.

Muffins for Mom 2015

Mother's Day almost missed this post.  Here is Kid President with a message to moms so listen up he has something important to say!

We had our Muffins for Mom the week before last and I played this video for the moms.  These kids are the cutest thing ever!  You never know what you are going to hear come from a little friend or what you will read in their writing.  Please enjoy as they share a bit about mom.  I will have to tell you some favorites:  "I love my mom more than my dad." or "I love my mom more than my brothers." or there was "I love my mom more than ice cream." There writing was even cuter if you can imagine that.  I love that one of my friends thinks his mom's "favorite thing to do is clean his house" and then there was "My mom has a white van named Toyota." Kids say the cutest things right?
I hope you enjoyed your Mother's Day.  I know I did surrounded by my hubby and kids, and with my mom and family too.  My brother even surprised my mom at lunch today at our house.  It was a grand weekend! Happy Mother's Day.
UPDATE: Our Art teacher Mrs. Hanna had the friends draw a picture of them and their mom.  Too sweet for words and a great keepsake. Enjoy.

Mother's Day

My mom is my hero.  She is the hardest worker I know.  She loves to cook and help people.  She makes me laugh and brings joy to everyone around her.  She is the best person I know and I am proud of her each and every day.  My mother had to quit school in the 2nd grade in Taiwan to help her family.  She had a hard time reading and writing while I grew up but always knew the letter grades and I was expected to get As not Cs.  She worked 2 or more jobs for as long as I can remember to make sure my brothers and I had the things we needed and most of the things we wanted.  She has been to every graduation and was front and center when I won Volusia County Teacher of the Year.  She has no idea how much I admire, love, and treasure her but I do try to tell her all the time.  She continues to be an amazing mom and Ahma to my children.
Now she is Ahma to my class.  She volunteers in my classroom on Wednesday and runs our Reading Counts store-JW Beanies.  The kids love her and it warms my heart to have her so close.  Thank you mom for everything!
Our Annual Muffins for Mom was Friday and it was well attended. The kids made the cutest frames with pictures letting their mom know why they loved them, got to LOVE Pinterest! We watched a video I made of the kids with their mom sharing a moment sometime this year.  It was pretty cool to see how many pictures I have of these moms and their firstie!  These moms are so involved and loving!  They rock!  Thank you for making it to our classroom but most of all thank you for being the best mom ever! Happy Mother's Day.

Happy Mother's Day 2013

Wednesday was our annual Muffins for Mom and it was fabulous!  There were muffins, doughnuts, and cinnamon rolls.  The kids are always so excited to give their Mother's Day presents and show their beautiful paintings they did in art.  It is quite a magical time.  This year a fellow teammate thought it would be great for her class to read Robert Munsch's Love You Forever.  Well after I saw the first line videotaped I knew I had to copy her idea and make it my own.  So I recorded the kids reading it and then found pictures of them and their mom from my thousands of pictures this year-YES I know I have a problem taking pictures but they are the cutest little firsties you ever did see!  I picture in pictured or side by sided the video with the picture and the Oscar goes to...me!:)  Just kidding it was so very cute.  Here is a little slideshow of some of the moms.  Enjoy.

Mother's Day

We celebrated Mother's Day with our annual Muffins for Mom and Donuts for Dad breakfast in class.  Parents spent a few minutes with us as we showed a movie and shared our favorite things to do with parents.  First graders say the cutest things and that makes it even more special when you can capture that moment on film.  This class was no exception.  I found out this year's moms are beautiful, get dressed up for weddings, wear makeup, and look prettiest in heels.  Make sure to check out the video below.

As for my mom, I love you more than anything.  Thank you for giving me the drive and determination to be the best person I can be.  Thank you for all the encouragement, hope, and dreams you laid out for me. I am a better person because of you.  You did better than Ok mom!  Check this youtube video by Johnson and Johnson someone sent me...

Mother's Day-Week 3 Thing 5

So I am practicing some new Web 2.0 tools for that online course.  I kind of lost track those last few weeks of school.  I really need to play catch up so make sure to check back soon for the rest of the year with my firstie friends.  We painted some FABULOUS Van Gogh inspired paintings in art, framed them, and presented them to our moms for Mother's Day.  Make sure to check out this Mixbook.
